Sustainable Agriculture.

Bedlam Farms Organic stands as a prime example of sustainable agriculture. The farm embodies a commitment to responsible farming practices that respect the environment and provide organic produce. We spoke to Director Tobias Martin, who explained sustainability is at the core of Bedlam Farms Organic, demonstrated by some of the important practices below:

After harvest, we enlist the help of sheep to graze our crops, minimising the need for machinery and fuel. This practice not only conserves resources but also enriches the soil.

During the winter months, we strive to maintain green covers whenever feasible.

Growing a large area of perennials, asparagus, artichokes, and rhubarb means that we have a lot of land that experiences very low tillage compared to annual crops ploughed yearly. This not only diminishes carbon emissions but also increases organic matter.

Buffer strips are implemented across all fields to safeguard water courses.

You'll find beetle banks and scattered pollen and nectar strips throughout the farm.
